If you have an HDMI connection on the laptop and also on the TV you only need a connecting cable

You will also need to select SOURCE on the TV remote and set it to the appropriate HDMI connection so it receives the input from the laptop

But will that show web pages/video.
I would think it only transfers jpeg/mpeg etc.

It works, but

I have not done it for a while and missed a step out. You would need to press the Fn + F5 keys together and select either the remote (TV) screen, the PC screen or both, to display at the same time

And on many TVs there is a standard PC monitor connector, the old "D" connector that is on all the old laptops. Works the same as the HDMI but needs a separate audio lead.

Some things like Sky Go & Virgin anywhere won't work if they sense the HDMI lead (and it's very hard to stop them).
