Hi Everyone... Does anyone know of any traffic free cycle paths in Wales? Similar to the Camel Trail or Tarka Trail. TIA

i know Wales is not very big but a little more info on area might help get a few answers. there are a few locally, the Taff trail for example.

Theres one that follows the Wye and goes past Tintern Abbey (on the other side)
Its an old railway line with a few tunnels, very pleasant, hardly any gradient and hard packed surface if I remember correctly.

Millennium |Coastal Path flattish and runs along the estuary with loads of tea/coffee stops and pubs on route
Be careful though there are some corkers that say cycle path and then your on a very busy roads or even have steps

Many thanks for all the advice and information. Lots to digest. Very much appreciated.

This will give you the UK, you can filter traffic free...

Cheers
Red.

the Taff trail for example.

The Taff Trail is a nice ride, you can start in Cardiff Bay and spend a half day riding mostly off road to Castell Coch.

A nice pub and a cafe in Tongwynlais, halfway through the ride.

Another day ride and better if you have two cars.

Brecon to Newport along the canal path.

Second vote for the beautiful Mawddach Trail. It's ALL level, I ride on it almost daily . About 8 miles long from Dolgellau, past George 3rd at Penmaenpool, picnic benches every few hundred yards. At Morfa Mawddach station, you can travel 800 yards across the bridge to Barmouth, or cross the line & ride to Fairbourne. Rob

3rd here, brilliant trail, well surfaced, flat and enter barmouth over the estuary, so lots of birds.

Mawdacch Estuary all the way to/from Barmouth/ Dolgellau beautiful mainly flat scenic ride on old railway track with plenty of stop offs if/when required.

north wales you can ride along the sea front.
Yes that's a really good one BUT, be aware there is a low bridge near Talacre (Point of Ayr) where the road dips and can fill with water up to 2 ft deep sometimes!. I don't know why. It is supposed to be pumped out but is not always the case! There is no way round it other than to backtrack and take the main road around it.

Sorry can't help you with cycle paths here in Wales but I do know more than a few psychopaths :giggler: :whistle2:
