I had this PM. Be carefull with TFM. I remember at a show someone had their van badly damaged. The valeter sprayed on the TFR then his compressor broke and he couldn't wash it off for an hour!!

Never used those places although they may well be good for those who don't have the facilities or the ability to wash their motors at home. Must be 40 years since I used an automatic car wash too.

Those places just use quick fix chemicals. They are all bad for the vehicle but get the job done quick.

I paid a so-called professional detailer to detail my van. He had a good website and a lot of good reviews (which I now seriously doubt the validity of!). He used TFR incorrectly and the resulting damage to the paintwork required re-spraying of the worse damaged areas. He had multiple excuses to avoid returning to try to improve the issue, or return the money I had stupidly paid him. And I was advised that taking him to court would end up in a 'my word v his' situation.
I would never, ever again use any detailer who hadn't been personally recommended to me by someone I trust, and certainly would never take any vehicle to one of those pop up hand wash places.

We had barrels of the stuff at work.

Left a wash brush with aluminium handle in the barrel one day, next day came back and handle was gone. :-(

I wouldn’t let it near mine.

Ordinary paraffin removes tar and washes off with soapy water, with no damage.

TFR - avoid at all costs. If not the paintwork then it will ruin the decals. Will see what the new valeter will do on Friday…….. good reputation so should not be an issue
