I just bought a TK103A from Amazon though not fitted yet as new car purchase soon.
can be used as an engine killer as well as a GPS or text controlled tracker.
the engine killer only works below 20kph and simply requires one text message 'STOP', to continue text 'RESUME'
it either cuts power to the fuel pump or ignition depending what you want and whether you have a mechanical or electronic pump.
the better version is the TK103B which has a remote fob to disarm the system when you're driving.....saves remembering to text it.
i currently have a TK102 fitted to my caravan which works well.
the web platform i use (rewiregps) for GPS is £10pa after the free first year or it can simply be a text controlled tracker which texts back with a link to google maps with the current location..
the TK102 is USB (5v) powered whereas the TK103A & B are 12v direct powered and both contain backup batteries for short term use.

this link is for the TK103B on ebay.

That's the type I was talking about, just staggering value.

I've fitted similar value Cobra bike alarms on my last 4 bikes but never wired up the immobiliser on the basis, well they are cheap and if the immobiliser relay fails I could be in deep poo. This would apply to budget trackers. Your choice.

Are they insurance company approved?

No chance, they need to know the equipment and the installer are up to scratch. Which may well be the case, especially papajohn, but he can't prove it.

But does it matter unless they specifically require a tracker to be fitted, if they do I imagine they need proof of type and fitting and also annual servicing.

Have you used the TK102 Tracker around Europe at all? Any problems connecting to 2G networks around Europe? Whose sim do you use in Europe? I'm sure alot of people would be interested to know.

I used a Vodafone (Ireland) Sim on an 18 month tour around Europe in 2012-2013.
No problems noticed while roaming in 20 EU countries. My mobile phone was also using a Vodafone Ireland Sim and never noticed a connection issue except of course while out of mobile coverage.

Having had 'Trackers' fitted to my last caravan and both motorhomes, as required by both Caravan Guard and Comfort Insurance, to the best of my memory, neither required the systems to be serviced annually.
