Having sent 97 emails to my dealer and having the handover on Wed, it just dawned on me that I have bought an aftermarket TPMS BUT it may already be fitted on my van, I can’t email the poor guy again as he is building up his energy for the 24hr handover ?. SO does anyone know if a 2019 Ducato Maxi has TPMS fitted, I have the Lux pack option fitted ?

Thanks,

Even if you do have manufacturer TPMS fitted it is still a good idea to have the aftermarket version too - we have both Citroen & TyrePal on our motorhome & the TyrePal alarmed first when a screw went in our tyre on the motorway.

In some parts of the vehicle law it isn't a passenger car.
It's only a passenger car as far as VED is concerned..... Petrol car or diesel car.
It's registered as 'motorcaravan' and class 'M1 special purpose vehicle'

My aftermarket TPMS has never notified me of a tyre pressure loss. Last year I changed 4 tyres and a total of 5 nails & screws in various tyres were found. Just proves the worth of puncture preventative.

Crickey, 97-emails, I bet the dealer loves you - and that's just in prep to pick it up.

What happens when it starts leaking; the roof delaminates and the bits fall off it in true Swift style.

You will tell us when you reach 1,000 won't you (y)

The problem is I only saw the showroom model for an hour so you just cannot see everything in that time, I have had to remotely ask questions and ensure that everything is right for handover as I have no intention of driving 4hrs to get warranty work done, if it’s urgent I would but hopefully with all the Pre work everything will be as perfect as possible. One example is the gaslow system and filler position, I had to ensure through pictures it is fitted exactly where I want it and not in the gas locker door where they were going to fit it, there are so many systems I actually think my emails were less than should have been, it’s a lot of money to buy something blind!

It depends on what the converter specify when ordering the base vehicle it won't be a standard fit on a van chassis.

Don't worry sir, things will get better when you PX the Swift for something you actually want. I always find that a one-hundred-long list of faults and a £30K depreciation-hit helps fine tune anyone's sensors.

I've read a few of your threads recently and I'm surprised that you've gone down the Swift Kontiki route in all honesty. Those vans are normally reserved for people who have not done any research.

THAT is an example of another question I would need to email the dealer about, even when I read the manual it was generic so covered lots of different models, it’s so hard to tie down exactly what I am paying for, even the brochures have mixed images in from different models, maybe it’s a tactic but I’m not impressed, nobody can give me a spec sheet of what I am paying for, seems it will just be a surprise on Wednesday when I pick it up, can’t say I am feeling too happy about driving all the way to collect it ?.

I really feel this motorhome lark in the UK is a joke of a cottage industry, not sure about Germany or Italy, anyway as I said I am only buying it because the salesman is a true gentleman and has answered every question I have sent, when I say answer, he replied, some questions he and even Swift didn’t know the answer to, just so happy I’m not paying big money or there is no way I would have accepted it, luckily every aspect I snagged in advance has now been corrected, if that had been on handover day they would have had it another 2 or 3 weeks. I don’t need it until next July so it’s just going to block up my drive, but although the dealer said I could leave it with them without charge, if they went bust it could disappear.

Unfortunately it was down to budget or I would not have entertained the heap of cr@p!

Should have bought a year old higher value German van for less current value (someone else took the depreciation hit) with all the problems ironed out.

I appreciate someone has to buy new or there wouldn't be any used vans but I simply can't understand anyone paying £70k/£80k then throwing away £20k/£30k in the first year in depreciation alone..... They need to keep it many many years to smooth out the depreciation loss.

I'd round it up to 100 then call it a day.

Only lost 6-7k on my last van in 3 years and I traded it but I don't buy in the UK.

A hotel is £36,000 for 42 nights so if I get one summer out of it then it’s no big deal, if I’m paying real money then I really need to know what I want, I’m still learning and the only way of making sure the van has what I want is just to buy everything possible which I just about have, doing that on a real van would be double the money so better to experiment on a less expensive one ?

I really tried to find one trust me, I needed big payload and rear lounge which meant a maxi chassis, I now have that with a payload of 1,422kg which is 422 more than I was looking for, but handy for the next owner to perhaps carry water at whatever for long term wild camping ?

See my last post for reasoning on buying this one, plus I have saved on the VED scam ?

I've stayed in many expensive hotels around the world, including a few 5* ones (but only when the company is paying!)

But I don't think I've every clocked up a £857.00 bill per night before food !

£36k would get you about 5 months a decent hotel, or about 2 years in a rented flat in Zone 3 London.

You are going to need to spend a lot of nights in your MoHo to justify a £36k depreciation!

It’s 2 x rooms at £400 per night, check for prices next July and Aug 2020 ?

Are you sure you're married and she isn't your sister.

You have separate hotel rooms.

This just smacks of Harry Enfield character 'Loadsa Money'.... "its come to my attention we have more money than yow"

I think I made clear I have children and grandchildren! And it’s cheaper camping at 60 Euro a night rather than these prices, I need 42 nights x 2 rooms, this show 1 room for 28 nights. I am happy on a campsite, I have lived in trenches, I’m just showing how ffing daft the place is!

I’d make the (Adult) Children Pay for their own kids (Grandchildren). And when my mortal coil pops off all assets will go to the Donkey sanctuary....

I'm sorry, I would put my foot down and go elsewhere and if she didn't like it.... Tough.
I agree with cool cats, if your kids can't afford it themselves let them hire a static at Butlins or Warner for a few weeks.
As long as dad's paying they aren't going to refuse a free luxury holiday.
