When towing a front wheel drive car behind a Motorhome using an A frame does the mileage on the car increase?
Do I need to inform my Motorhome Insurance?
Extra costs at French tolls?

It shouldn’t do. I’ve been towing my tow car for the past year with no miles added.

Although i have not heard of anyone being fined i believe its illegal to tow with an A-Frame in France so insurance may be a problem

Doesn’t add mileage on modern cars.
Notify Motorhome insurer that you’re towing ( modification re fitted towbar should suffice).
Notify Car insurance of modification of A frame.
Not legal to tow with a frame in France and most European countries.

Best wishes.

My Peugeot 107 doesn’t record mileage, on tolls I think you just be charged as towing a trailer.

It adds mileage on a Morris Minor, or any car that has a cable operated Odometer, as the rear wheel drive keeps rolling along😢. I am considering disconnecting it during towing.

One thing to concider is the car battery, is it charged from the Motorhome and any electric box or vacuum servo consumption. will it drain the car battery? Depended on manufacturer/ setup many variants possible. I was asked what do you want , we don't think you need it.

I tow a Citroën C1 behind my Rv, on long journeys the battery is flat when I arrive. I try to read the road conditions more so I don't have to use the brakes, and never sit at traffic lights or road works with my foot on brake pedal.

Could you not take a feed from your 12v hitch socket and link it to the car battery via an Anderson socket?

No to increased milage as electronic (unless very old mechanical car)
Negligible extra fuel consumption on towing vehicle
No issues with toll tag in France, still goes through as class 2, it is the height of the lead vehicle which determines the rate/classification (at the toll gantry entrance). It is left to your honesty to get the correct toll tag device (i.e. Over 3.5 GVW or one for under).
A frame towing in EU. We have done France extensively, and are here at the moment (with A frame). Have passed countless gendarmeries, local police, municipal police, and traffic police, without a tug or a mention.
