It will be fine for lights etc but if you have fridge fixed into the tow car you'll get warm beer 😀😀

Thanks all top info great site

O really so I have to have the moterhome change to 13 pin to match ?
So is that simply ?

You need to contact you A Frame Manf and ask for wiring diagram to match your new 13 pin socket to your tow car socket
The 7 pin to 13 will work all lights etc you need to identify which pin is used for permanent live to feed brake motor.
You may be capable of tracing it yourself I dont know

Forgot to add get it wrong and you can blow your brake control black box

What sort of money would it be to change moterhome to work with tow car ?
many idea I have to get it done

The replacement socket about £20. Wire to run from the vehicle battery to provide a permanent live on the new socket. I can't remember off hand which pin is designated permanent live, but it will be on the internet. Then an hours labour for any competent auto electrician or towbar place. Expect to pay £100 to £120 down south or about £50 up north, where everything seems so much cheaper

We pay £70 plus VAT per hour

When you say Tow Car, do you mean the Toad that you tow with the Motorhome, or do you mean the car that you tow a trailer ( or caravan) with and you want to tow the same trailer or caravan with your Motorhome?

Too much advise IMHO is a dangerous thing, unless you are 100% sure what your working with
I have no idea who made the Towing equipment in question or what wiring format they used.

Experience has taught me that they dont always stick to the same given formula.
Known as fitters choice with bespoke installations, he has 13 pins and wires to play with, he has to follow industry standards for the seven lighting / Caravan circuits, that leaves him 6 spare pins and colours to play with and to use for what is required for individual installs of extras.

How many used trailers have folk bought that have been wired by a chimp
Hence my Advice.

I’ve got a couple of these available if anyone is in the area and wants one.

I have a motorhome wired by the same chimp. He's French.😏

Geo I am certain that I read a technical bulletin for MOT testers that includes 13 pin towbar wiring into the test and the standard pin configuration is set by EU law. No interpretation for anyone to wire up the extra pins as they choose, with the exception of pin 12 (for now)

May I describe my best (so far) weird wiring? And I've seen many contenders.

My van, in common with many others, uses blue for +12v and brown for 0v (earth). And there's nothing wrong with that. For many circuits the converter has used mains flex with the green/yellow unused and cut off for the 12v wiring.

The rear bedroom ceiling light is switched at the bed head, close to the garage, the EBL unit, and the leisure battery. So from the EBL & fuse unit a Red wire runs under the double floor and then up to an area above the habitation door behind the control panel. It supplies a number of light via a large soldered and taped connection. The supply from there is taken back to the bedroom light over the ceiling using the Blue wire within a length of mains flex. The Brown and Yellow/Green are unused.

A heavy earth wire is run from the EBL along the floor to above the hab door where a number of earths are taken from the earth solder blob to serve various lights. One of these earths heads back following the route of the heavy wire to the bed head switch. A mains flex takes it from the switch to the bedroom light using the Brown wire. The other two wires in the flex are unused.

One more example is the Up limit switches for the bed. Each has two connections running from the switch to the relay unit above the hab door. Each connection uses one wire out of a mains flex and the others are unused. Two microswitches and 4 mains flex connections. All the mains flex used is around 8mm diameter.

One day when you have a break in a circuit you will bless the original fitter,
One mans budge is another mans forward thinking.
Trouble is the first time you have a line break it will be one without a spare wire

Ive read the specs for a specific reason. Pin 12 was originally specified for a trailer present system but the lastest ive read listed 12 as not used. A physical connection was also not included in mine. I use pin 12 as a connection on my toad. It allows a led to illuminate on the towing vehicle.

Not so simple
Do you have an electronic brake system fitted on you a frame?
