I have a long trailer (5.6m) which i happy tow behind the car. I am thinking of towing it behind the motorhome but am worried about how the overhand will effect the towing of the trailer.
The tow bar is 2,5m behind the wheels in the motorhome so will cause the trailer to swing in the wrong direction initially when going around a corner.

What experience have member had towing long trailers behind motorhomes?

Reserving will not be an issue just worried about swing out on tight corners going forwards

Swing out won't be any more of an issue than the back of the van swinging out as you will be moving forward so pulling the trailer around the curve.

No problem, just be careful

Never noticed a problem towing my 5m long trailer with the car on but I assume you have checked if you can tow it behind your van, depends what you are putting on it though, maybe not much weight.

Thought about towing my boat. Decided I didn't fancy a 7m motorhome towing a 6.3m boat on a 7m trailer. That's more HGV than I want.

We tow Sue's disability scooter behind the Moho and we have 2 flags attached to the rear of the trailer, more for peace of mind than any practical use. Reversing when you can't see the trailer is not recommended as I have tried and damaged the van in the past.

I used to regularly tow a 40' trailer behind a LWB land rover.
(Making me longer than an HGV !)

The main issue I found was on left hand bends the trailer cut the corner, so as long as you went wide it was OK

Used to pull a 27 foot race trailer behind a 30 foot motorhome no probs
You already tow big with the car so are used to most stuff, just be wary of other people trying to squeeze past you on roundabouts even when you straddle the line
Tow hitch weight needs to be checked

Only ever had a problem once, towing a car on an A frame.
Pulling out of a parallel park situation with full left lock.
The front of the car was forced to the right due to rear swing out and the front right tyre hit the high kerb and stopped dead.
Had to get in the car and turn the wheel left to get out.
If it wasn't for the car parked close infront of me it wouldn't have happened.
