Here’s a one for all you knowledgable folks.

My motorhome has a GTW on the Peugeot and AlKO VIN plates. But on the Bailey one it is missing. Also not on the SV Tech plate when up plated.

So can it tow a trailer ?

According to Bailey and the V5 it can but I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that if there isn’t A separate GTW on the VIN plate then it can’t tow.

Good question..
As SV Tech seem to be the last to issue a plate maybe an email or phone call to them (y) and let us know the answer.

Mine was uplated with VWE and has the GTW on it..

Mine from SV Tech as a GTM, but not GTW.

Just had a chat with SV Tech and as it wasn’t in the Bailey plate then they couldn’t put it on theirs.

Even though Bailey literature says it can tow and quote a GTW of 5500kg. If it’s not on the VIN then it isn’t allowed. It’s the ViN that counts.
Looks like a mistake by Nailey on mine. Not sure how many others may be affected. But inimanginenin not alone. Which means they will be people with Bailey’s out there towing who shouldn’t be.

Simon-Alan Kerr could you ask Bailey about this please ?

Send me photo's of the vin plates. There should be a Chassis plate, a Bailey Plate and an Alko plate.

Your van can legally tow 1650 KG's. Your train weight is 5500 and the GVW is 3850.

What’s on the plate under the bonnet?

Thanks Simon. Just PM’d them to you

Update for everyone

What a fantastic service from SV Tech. Brilliant and fast.

They have done some digging around and found that the van should be able to tow 2000kg. As we thought.

So they are issuing a new updated VIN plate and certificate to me.

But I does stem from the information not being on the original Bailey plate. They could only go off that.

I would advise anyone with a Bailey to check their VIN plate and if it doesn’t have a GTW then contact them for a new one which does.

Also thanks again Simon-Alan Kerr for a quick response to look into it for me. You’re a star.
