We will be heading off to Spain in the near future and will be towing a trailer carrying our motor scooter.

The trailer itself is full CE compliant and carries correct lighting board and EU number plate.

Do we require anything further? Eg diagonal striped board. Nothing protrudes outside the dimensions of the trailer.

We are happy that we know the rules for many countries in Europe but are not too familiar with Spain. Various threads on the Forum suggest that police may be, shall we say, a little over zealous in enforcement.

@tacr2man
We have a 6m PVC, Registered in U.K., towing a 2.5m trailer so it sounds as though we should be OK.

Perhaps the locals need to read this thread as when we were there in December travelling at 80kph towing our small car trailer i saw many many spanish cars going full speed past us towing trailers of all sizes. Some bigger than our car trailer, they certainly had no regard for the speed limit. We were also overtaken a few times by spanish motorhomes towing trailers as well as one towing with an A-Frame lol.

Yes even I could not stick at 80kph with last auto car as it wanted to be in second or third & would only lock up at 100 with trailer on .
Transit prior wouldn't tow above 4th at 80.Hills you had to change to third . Or cruise at 100 +:D in 5th
Another one is that all vans with no side windows are restricted to the same limit as hgv's.:LOL: Now if they actually made them do that you'd never be able to get in the inside lane.
They do occasionally have a purge & last time at San Javier they had a queue of 62 waiting for tickets.:LOL: & that was on a saturday morning!
