I was at a local trailer supplier today
In front of me was a local Council employee, you couldn't help but overhear...
He needed 3 new tow hitches with matching keys for 3 new trailers, the keys had to be the same as all Council trailers used the same lock/key.....not sure if that is a good idea but what he said next grabbed my attention
Over the weekend a Council depot had been broken into and trailers stolen..... it seems that the thieves turned up with towbars fitted to their vehicles but no tow balls
They removed the towbar bolts with impact wrenches from Council vans, attached the trailers to their vehicles and away...........I assume captured on CCTV but too late to take any action...........
