Happy Christmas to you all.
My Mercedes PVC had a towbar fitted when new.
Used for the first time a few weeks ago only to find the warning beeper when indicating is enough to wake the dead.
Our previous van had a similar devise fitted, a much more agreeable sound.
There's no way I could travel any distance with this screeching sound, is there any simple way to disconnect?
The buzzer appears to be behind the n/s dash.
Many thanks

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
On operating the indicators mine only beeps once. It doesn't carry on all the while the indicator is on. Maybe a towbar fitter can provide a widget you can fit to do the same?

The buzzer appears to be behind the n/s dash.Which is why it sounds loud x:-) All those I have fitted I have located well away from the front of the vehicle so they can be heard bur quietly

Best bet is SandraL 's suggestion.. simply wrap it up
Alternately, if you have a technical bent, take it apart replace the piezo buzzer with a quieter one

Find it, cut the two wires and replace it with a cheap ebay job.
It is required by law but who's going to check it unless it's a 13 pin socket which is tested at MOT.
Mine is in the cars spare wheel well and can't be heard at all.

Insulation tape has been done to a couple of vehicles in my ownership over the years. Works well, cheap, easy, and reversible

What purpose does it serve? Is it to remind you there is a trailer on?

More to confirm your trailer indicators are working.
Complete waste of time on some of the trailers I've followed.
Indicator on one side and maybe brake light flashing on the other.
Brake lights and maybe one steady indicator.
Flashing sidelight on one side, nothing else.
Nothing at all for any function.
But you never see anyone getting pulled over.
