Hi. Toying with the idea of having a Tow Car occasionally (on a budget to begin with). What is the typical price for something like a Fiat 500 conversion?
Hope some others that tow can tell us the approximate price (assuming we don't find an economical car already converted).

Thank you Funsters.

About £2000

You can buy a trailer cheaper, not only is it legal, but you can sell it & get most/all your money back.

A frame's are legal, and you can sell the car as a towed car at a later date or have the electrics transferred to a newer vehicle.
You also don't have to find space at campsites to park a trailer.

May be if you have the money spare to buy a car already set up to see if it suits you, if not you could sell it with out losing to much money.

I am open minded but see loading and unloading a trailer and subsequent strapping down as less convenient than A frame for UK travel.

They both have pluses and minuses. You have to take into account the weight of the trailer to be deducted off of the train weight. May be try both and see what suits you best. If one was perfect then everyone would be doing it.

We have done it for ages now. If you are using it in this country its not a problem on a A frame. Most will convert for around a £1000 . If you go down the avenues of a electronic braking system it can be anything from £1500 upwards.
We have had both. The Towtal and Towcar and tow bar to tow car set up using a cable for mechanical braking and now have the RV2 system electronic job which is by far better. At least I can now reverse with it on.
The Mechanical one when trying to reverse , will apply the brakes on the towed car .
Most are available fitted but the kit to be purchased separately tends to be a little like unicorn pooh!!
They dont want to sell them on!

there are older towcars about under £1000 with the system already fitted. I picked one up on here, used it for 18 months and sold it on for what it cost me. I only did this whilst waiting for a part for our newer car to be converted

put it on ebay and sold it in 48hours
