love donegal..
was over there last wk end .. had a paddle from tremone round Inishowen head to shrove beach..
you might like to look up farens bar(y).. think its the most northerly bar in Ireland.. they do a lovely Guinness:LOL:
if you arnt in a rush you could give 5 finger strand a visit.. think they are reputed to be some of the highest sand dunes in Europe... there's the dough famine village and mamore gap on the way over to dunree head.
and a bit further south and west of the town of donegal out towards killybegs sone of the highest sea cliff in Europe at bunglass..
for stop overs donegal town down in the harbour car park and I had a couple nice nights wilding on the west side of trawbreaga bay...
hope the sun shines and you have a lovely trip..

Thanks for posting that photo of Malin Head. At Easter we got talking to a couple while we were camping in Lincolnshire. Ireland came into the conversation and they mentioned Malin Head a place I'd never visited while in Ireland. It's now on my list of places to visit (y)

Hi,Mamoré Gap difficult for 8 MTR van according to Buncrana tourist office ??Can Donegal Harbour take our size ?
You had the same weather that we presently are experiencing at Malin Head

What ever you do DO NOT go down the road do to Portsalon harbour , as we did it in our 7.1 mtr MH and met a car coming up so had to SQUEEZE in and ended up hitting the side of the MH of a small wall....
as for Donegal ,,,,,, LOVELY :) and the folk are 1st class as well..

Yes...I'd most probably avoid mamore gap then ..I should have thought on when i saw your photo above of your motorhome..
It's very steep in places ..I can't recall how wide but it was quiet when i crossed so that wasnt an issue.. in that size van some of the roads round the wild atlantic way may prove difficult..you will just have to be careful...
On the harbour car park in Donegal it may depend on how busy but from memory I think you would be ok in there..it's a pay park from something like 8am till 6pm but no charge for the actual overnight or that was the case a couple years back..
The next couple days look a bit wet but then it looks like it will get better..(y)

10 May
Wild camp opportunities on Rosguill Peninsula ,Ireland with great scenery on our way to Fanad Head lighthouse . However as it's Friday we have decided to stay at the Singing Pub who encourage vans to visit.Arriving early gave us the chance to get the bikes off for the circular but hilly 9 mile Atlantic Drive route around the headland.Last night we used Donaghey Motorhomes car park at Letterkenny after being invited to use their facilities by the salesman who I failed to ask his name but thanks. Then a Hymer Owners Club forum member invited us to use his driveway tonight, thanks Simon. That must be the often mentioned Irish friendly welcome.
