Knowing that TomTom were enticing you to move off their "free updates for life" iPad app by September to their Go App with free traffic for 3 years and that I am travelling via Paris to the south this summer I have duly tried the new app.
It is appalling - not made for iPad; cannot plan in advance; favourites are hidden from the main routing page and difficult to find as a stop point - that's with having a play for an hour or so and my thoughts appear to reflect the general consensus online.
Has anyone managed to adapt to the new App?
There is an implication on the TomTom support pages that people have asked for their money back successfully, has anyone gone down this route?
I have CoPilot Motorhome and just remember I have not triggered the free one year traffic facility so will be looking to get my money back from TomTom unless someone can convince me otherwise.

I've been using TomTom (Western Europe) on my iPhone and iPad for absolutely years and I love it to death.

I subscribe(d) to cameras and traffic for years too.

My day job sees me swapping between vehicles a lot, an I spend a ridiculous amount of time in my car on the motorways and I can't begin tell you how often this thing has saved my skin.

A few months ago, they released a bad updated app which broke the traffic features, the community rightly went ape (you perhaps saw the threads there?) and it took them over a week to issue another update, by which point most of us rolled back a version , and stayed back.

I've tried their replacement a couple of times, the servers that this Fun forum runs on doesn't have enough storage capacity to even begin holding my rant about their alternative :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Come September, I am genuinely worried about what my replacement options are :(

I've found nothing on the market that 'just works', this thing stores and plays all my music through the car speakers, mutes the music to give me spoken directions then un mutes it again, it gives me email and net access on the move, it does everything. It always has, and I thought it always would.

Gutted. Genuinely gutted by them killing it :(

I was using my TT iPad app then decided to move to a TT Camper after not being warned in Rouen about the passunders when the bridge was down 2/3 years ago. While it is still working it stopped connecting to TT for updates. TT offered me a new model with 20% discount but by that time they had stopped producing the Camper version and even with the discount was not that much cheaper than Amazon. I then bought a Chinese effort about the beginning of 2016 which lasted a few days. I then bought a Garmin 760 which within the first few days had me going over a bridge which was narrower than the van and down a road which it was impossible to turn into, on long journeys it tended to freeze and then would take 5 mins to boot by which time... After that I went to Copilot Caravan (I had bought Copilot at some stage in this process) and am getting used to it (twice a year or so they offer it cheap). I still find the TT more intuitive. Anyway I am doing a sprint through France from Brussels to Roses just over the Catalan border in a couple of weeks and every sat nav/route planner points to going through Paris and I thought it would be good to have a traffic facility (the joys of being retired seldom have any use for traffic)- and remembering the 3 years free with TT Go and that the cut over date was September I thought it would be worth a try. Yikes no POI's; no sensible forward planning; no iPad interface just a double phone screen; favourites or whatever they call them now hidden. I have written to them this afternoon stating that I had a lifetime upgrades app and they were not fulfilling their part of the contract and that the new app did not meet my requirements. I will let you know how I get on. If they had Camper routing in the old app I would have binned the rest. Any other bright ideas let me know :)

We used TT NZ on the iPad and it was very good and we were thinking about getting one for the UK.

If TT had such a good product and it wasn't broken, why on earth have they 'fixed' it?
Perhaps an online petition to TT?

Difficult to know the logic behind their decision. Presumably they feel they can make more money selling hardware whether standalone or already integrated into a vehicle. No-one believed them when they originally said that they would have free updates for ever but apart from that the issues that I can remember off the top of my head were:
Resolution for the iPad is just doubling the iPhone resolution so does not make use of the better screen; no POIs, so you cannot add any specialist lists or any you have built yourself; while I believe you can forward plan a route it is not straightforward - the old system was and you could store a plan and retrieve it from your diary - I always do a fair measure of planning ahead. So it goes on, you can see from their website that people are just moving to different apps. TT have taken no notice of the outcry emanating from their own support pages. Given the old app and Motorhome size settings, I would purchase it and go back in a flash.

With the September TomTom iPad RIP date fast approaching, I've been testing alternative apps on my iPad lately, looking for the ideal replacement.

I'd quickly narrowed it down to either Waze or CoPilot.

Today, while parked outside a Starbucks on the M62 and getting frustrated at Waze, I saw copilot was offering 20% off so I bit the bullet and bought it from the AppStore, along with a 1yr Traffic subscription.
