My new TomTom Camper satnav does not seem to have the extensive POIs that I had with my previous one.
On the older one, I could access a list which gave me POIs ranging from Commercial Centres to Police Stations etc etc and from which I could then select those nearest to my location.
On this new one, all I can select from the list are campsites and (I think), aires. (Fuel stations are also shown onscreen but I am referring to the additionals which always come in handy.) Therefore, unless I know the exact co-ords of the place that I need, which obviously I never will, the satnav will be useless for this requirement.
I am hoping that I have missed something from the instructions but after hours pouring through the booklet, website and Youtube I am at a loss.
Thanks.

Hi @sciac2001

Tap Menu
Tap Search
(With Whole Map showing top Right0
Type Police Station
You will see at top of Right Column the Nearest Police station to your current position.
Tap the Blue Keyboard Icon Bottom Right
You now have 2 icons Bottom Right the Left one has the Right half in Black. Tap that 2 balloon half and you now have all the Police stations on the map for miles around. You can tap each one and get details of them.

Same would happen off you typed Sainsburys.

You can add your own 3rd Party POI file sas well.

Hope that helps.

Hundreds of free Tomtom POI available on Google. Including MacDonald's Europe. Public toilets UK. Camper contact etc. etc.

Hi @sciac2001

If you tap on the Whole Map option you get other Search criteria. For example if you scroll down you will find the Long/Lat option where you can search entering that data. When you get to that screen you will see 3 examples of Long/Lat which are the formats the unit recognises. The 3 examples are for your current position.

Also re Adding your own POI files. The files are then listed in My Places after the favourites (myPlaces) you have saved. If you select a Poi file you can then search that file as well.

Re my comment about Sainsburys earlier there are other supermarkets available here and abroad. :D

If there is anything else you would like to know just ask nd I will try to answer you.

Doug, is it easy to download 3rd party POIs? I am particularly interested in finding Commercial Centres and Supermarkets - ideally Mercadona - in Spain.

Hi @sciac2001

It is easy when you know how like all things. One limitation though is you cannot add a .bmp fie so that when the Poi's are displayed on the map you have say the Mercadona icon showing. You can only allocate 1 of 5 Coloured icons to show the Poi on the map. What people do is allocate the same colour to all POI file with similar Poi's on them ie all Shops have the Yellow Icon. You can tap the icons on the map and then see what the Poi is ie Sainsburys or Mercadona.etc.

Hope this link works

By the way .GPX files are routes that have been created on MyDrive or other Software. When you open the MyDrive webpage and log in you will see an option at the top Road Trips. If you click on that you can see loads of ready made routes even some that have been created for RV's.

By the way if I just Tap Menu, Tap Search and type Mercadona the nearest one to me is Irun 567 miles away in a straight line. If I tap the Blue keyboard icon the list is now 3 off Shops and tapping the Down Arrow on the right the list keeps going until the one at Sama which is 626 miles. The list has 61 Mercadona shops in order of distance from where I am here in the UK.
