Tom Tom...???

I`m at a complete loss,just bought a tomtom start 60 from fleabay all working good but can`t get my laptop to recognise the device,downloaded latest software & used another e.mail address(apparently that`s what you need to do) but still to no avail.Am i missing something.Any advice PLEASE

Good point and it got me for a while.

Tomtom home is for older m8dels....my drive is for the new GO series.

Also....try a different USB lead....mine wont work on anything other than the genuine lead for some reason.
i can charge the unit via laptop USB using almost any lead but only the real one connects to my drive.

You should delete any other Tomtom programs you have on your computer.

Hi stealaway i`ve deleted & reloaded my drive numerous times.I`m going to phone tomtom direct 2morow & see if they can throw some light on it,thanks for your response,much appreciated.chris.

Problem solved,it appears if you have a secondhand unit,you need to inform tomtom support & supply the serial num who in turn cancel the previous owners account linked to it & then hey presto !!!!.Happy holidays.!!

Excellent - they can be a bit of a bugger with their web site. We have two identical start 60's on one email acount and that makes it difficult signing on to our accounts.

Really bloody annoying not being able to use the same email address for a replacement unit

I had to register my BT address for my new go500.
Come on tomtom....get your finger out and sort out your software.

On going saga,got my new account up & running,but laptop not recognising my device.'#'';''#'' magicsurfbus you were right .. .got back in touch with tomtom & they feel it could be the usb so their sending me a new one..A little sceptical because it powers up ok??.I`ve spoken to the lady i bought it from & she has said she is happy to refund if this does`nt resolve the issue.so thats ok.fingers crossed.

The Chinese sat nav's on eBay look very good several threads on here about them and I just looked only £29 a bargain with updates for life free.

if its a relatively new tomtom (new GO series) then you need tomtom MY DRIVE....wont work with tomtom HOME

i just downloaded the latest software update (mini update only 350mb)....i now have a 1 year subscription to speed camera database...

FREE OF CHARGE.

dont know if its a glitch but its there and expires 1/8/2016.
nothing came out of my bank account and i certainly never paid for it.

Also bear in mind that when you do connect to My Drive the TomTom web server is painfully slow. If you're doing any big map updates leave it running overnight.

agreed....my last full map update took 7 hours on a 3mb connection speed.
