Tom Tom problem, any advice? (1 Viewer)

Hi I have just tried to update my tom tom one, I followed instructions carefully and when I had finished the b***** update has wiped my Western Europe map. And tells me there are no maps installed!

We have a sat nav in motorhome but I always take the tom tom, just in case. Apart from the advice to buy another can anyone offer any suggestions.

Yes contact tom tom this happenef to me!!! From memory you have to delete tom tom cache and the program then reconnect and it will download for you? :thumb:

why not just reload it from your computer, the tomtom home programs backs up before an update. Also if it is your fist update you may find the name of the map has actually changed.

why not just reload it from your computer, the tomtom home programs backs up before an update. Also if it is your fist update you may find the name of the map has actually changed.

No means of backup on new progs Roger new devices not on "home" so not possible! :cry:

What model tomtom are you using?

It is the tomtom one. I have just tried the original uk card, and that works fine but Western Europe card still says no maps found. I have checked contents of card and it is nearly full. All the system files have been updated today. Will customer services help as it is a few years old?

TomTom have recently updated their PC software apparently without telling anyone. I had the same issue & was told to uninstall TomTom Home (I think that was what it is\was called) then to install TomTom MyDrive. The update then went ahead as normal. In other words very slowly.

You need to keep the Tomtom attached to the computer which could be for hours. All I can suggest is that you download MyDrive to your computer, look out for the instruction which says " Clear Cache ". After that click on where it says "update device" or similar.
The existing files on your Tomtom should eventually update.

We'll I rang customer services, they said the upgrade had probably corrupted my data, then they just referred me to links on their site which I had already tried.

I went to the underground site but I think they are speaking a different language! Certainly one I can't follow very well. I have posted my problem and will have to wait to see if anyone responds.

I think the outcome of this is that I will have to buy a new card or sat nav, just what tomtom want I expect. However it certainly will not be tomtom!

My sat nav, Tom Tom IQ live does not support the my drive. I have bought a Western Europe map. the programme asks you to obviously delete the old version but it will not load the new one, there is enough internal memory so getting very hacked off. I cant reload the old one because it is on a previous pc that we no longer have! it gets so far then stalls, error message appears to say not enough memory...any thoughts. I will be phoning on Tuesday when they are open.....great hours for a company that produces travel products :cry:

I had probs with our TomTom 1. No maps available for it after update 4. Bought a £55 Chinese special instead. :thumb:
