I know how you all like a good toilet thread!

We have a 7.3m motorhome with a toilet and shower in it. A lot of sites want you to use your own facilities now, toilet blocks may even be shut. We have always had a rule - no number 2's in the motorhome loo! We have stuck to this for 5 years.

OH is very squeamish and I may have to take this emptying role on😷. We use the blue stuff in there all the time and have a bottle of pink stuff which we have never used, the cartridge being dealt with by sterilizing tablets when we come home.

Any tips anyone can give me? Do you empty on a daily basis? Do you clean with pink stuff after every emptying? Any other words of wisdom?!

Thanks

Wohoo a toilet thread

Pink stuff goes in the bowl. More often than not on each flush - Indeed if I've had a quick tinkle a spray with pink stuff substitutes for a flush so I don't fill the cassette too quick. So I'll flush every two or three times to dilute whatever is in the cassette, but do so sparingly.

Don't use the blue stuff. Just an Aldi Bio clothes washing detergent sachet dropped into the cassette as I arrive on site, or after each emptying with probably no more than a litre of fresh water in the cassette to start things off. Never smelt any problem, and unless I've been silly to leave it festering for a few days in hot weather, even emptying isn't nasty - it can in fact be complemented by a nice laundry smell.

Why buy a motorhome with the facilities if you ain't going to use them? The main reason we bought ours is so we are not sitting down on everyone else's dribble or crap . If you have a dog or cat human poo is no problem! As others have said Aldi' s tabs are great any soap with bio on the label destroys it
Have you ever had children or a pet?
Grow a pair and accept that we all crap at some time!

Grow a pair may offend rule 1. Also it looks like the op is female and may not want to.
Definite vote for bio not blue and the pink should only be used in a spray to avoid flushing after a pee to avoid filling the tank too quickly, dont use in the flush water as it grows black mould.

JaneyBMotorhomer In Hants the thought is worse than the emptying. I have always emptied ours, it's not so bad. Have never used the pink stuff although I might have a 10yo bottle in the garage at home, might dig it out and give the spray thing a go.

Put a clothes peg on your other halves nose........and eat lots of live yoghurt. ;) :giggle:

Put a bin bag in the loo do your stuff then bin it

Are you really happy putting human Sh1t in a waste bin? They even have specific bin for dog Sh1t --- unbelievable.

Stop being so queemish. We all do the same.
Do not put it in any waste bins.

Oh I do love a toilet thread:giggle:

The first time I had to empty ours was following an unfortunate night my wife had an upset stomach; bless..... I wasn't relishing the deed and had thought I had chosen a quiet time to utilise the sites facilities. However, mid way through the emptying, a group of 20 teenagers trundled down the hill from the camping field, once they got wind of the whiff they didn't hold back with the sarcasm and ever since the process has been a walk in the park in comparison!

Yes, it's not going to be a pleasant experience the first few times but take it from me and many others, it gets easier(y)

Always have a chuckle at number of folk who wear elbow length rubber gauntlets to empty loo and then take of and chuck them into locker to fester until next time. Much much more hygienic to use bare hands then give hands a thourgh wash. Simples 🤗🤗🤗

In our van bag it. lady pee in toilet.me pee in bottle .job done for a week or so bio tablets.

Believe me some of the toilets from my army days make the motorhome toilet quite a luxury.
No toilet doors or a pole over a pit when in the field or at worst a shovel trip with comfi bum and shovel. Best done at night unless you want an audience.

Not been able to use chemicals for the past 3 months wild camping due to shops not being open. Now don"t see what they do anyway so in no hurry to find any.
ps: we don't smell, honest 💩

come on people, seriously, it's only poo and not long ago was inside you. Urine smells worse than poo and when emptying, it's gone quickly if you do it properly. As in use the pressure relief button as you pour with the cassette inverted.

If you really struggle with smelly poo, fit a sog and disperse the toxic gasses before you need to empty

In our van, we both use the loo, so we both take turns emptying. A cassette lasts 2 of us a few days between empties

I found laundry detergent powder ( Sainsbury’s own brand , cheapest) worked even better than bio liquid. Only smell was the laundry powder.
Swish the cassette around a couple of times before you empty it.

Good old bog threads I love em.
Seriously though use it and empty at every opportunity as you never know when or where next emptying point is going to be.
Go on you know you love it don’t be squeemish😂😂😂😂

1, If you have kids tell them when you are emptying! Otherwise they might crap in the compartment as there is no cassette, don’t ask how I know.

2, If liquid splashed on your lips, the natural reaction is to lick them. Keep your mouth shut and turn away!

3, That’s it, no problem at all otherwise. :-)

I also have experience of point 1. Cat litter is your best friend for absorbing pee from a locker and deodorising it

There is absolutely no need to sterilise the cartridge especially if you use bio washing tablets. All it gets from me is more thorough rinsing for times when we are not going to use it for a while. Leave the flap open whilst doing a poo so that it doesnt get stuck to the flap and then smeared when you open it.
Well you did ask !
Pink stuff in a spray bottle to use after a wee to save filling the cassette with flush water,
