Well "better late than never" and "everything comes to he who waits" are just two sayings that spring to mind, so nearly 9 months ago we eventually put a Deposit down on a new van and today is the day we pick it up MORELO Palace 85L,
Things haven't gone quite to plan though as you might imagine, we were due out at the factory to collect it late March but of course CV-19 put the stop on that, we were then told it could be delivered to the UK but we needed to pay for it first so first day of lockdown we had to go to the bank and transfer our life savings to the UK dealer oh well here goes and it was then officially ours and duly arrived in the country
When we placed the order at Dusseldorf we elected to pay in € and convert £ to € using Revolut, at the time of ordering the rate was 1.11 so we didn't want to lock that in, I started converting at 1.16 keeping an eye on brexit and then an election, we had all the cash in place about 3 months ago at an average of 1.18 before CV-19 hit the rate again, one of my worries was that the day we picked it up ie today the rate would be something like 1.25 and we would be looking down the barrel of a big exchange rate hit, well that didn't happen and if you add on the spare € that I sold back at a 10% profit today it is costing us £15k less than it could have thanks to Revolut. Just to add I didn't fancy holding the full amount in Revolut so we opened a € account at HSBC which is where the final transfer was from.
Anyway thats it for now and there might be some pictures later but it could be a long day.
