Was having my first beer after 10 mins arrival (Mrs Bags did most of the setup ) now relaxing watching tuggers and PVCs setting up their awnings - it reminds me of Its a knock out as they pump frantically on their hand pumps .

Indeed you are.

Brings to mind the lock monster that always appears when pleasure boats enter a lock. This is the biggest cause of domestic fallouts that I have come across. The skipper can’t get the craft level to the lock side and the wife often screams “Which b side are you going on” I once saw one wife get off the boat in despair and walk off. !!

As the newby ( now) I played about at home while on lock down.
Now park up context the mains lead.
Even done the levellers.
Now sit looking out the window giving the wife a running commentary 😀

Ah yachts - now that’s another dimension . I’m lucky to live by the hamble river and have spent many an hour at the pubs in the marinas watching sailing yachts storm in and try and berth beside the gin palaces with panic and shouts everywhere .

Even better stern-to in the Med. Even with no tides they struggle.

Well itis funny till they drop their anchor and chain over one's own! And short.

Geoff
Stern Mooring is more an art form than anything. Was In Tripoli back in the 70`s on a Ro-Ro. The Master was doing his best to "park" stern to, between 2 ferries. Without laying our anchor over either of theirs, second officer was in charge of Anchors. 4 attempts before he finally got what the "old Man" wanted. We where fascinated down below just watching the engine controls go ahead to astern multiple times.. Anyway, cost 2O. a case of beer afterwards. (y)

If people are pitching in my eye line I will gladly carry on with my beer and watch them pitch up, a caravan with awning is normally the most entertaining.

Watching the pack up whilst enjoying the morning coffee from sanctuary of the van is fun too. Take down awning. Start to roll it then roll yourself all over to squeeze the air out fold again and roll over fold again and repeat pick up neat bundle and promptly drop start over....

There’s a thread about this topic.
I’ve been watching the newby campers trying to figure out which hole to put the elastic joined poles in.

That’s funny 😂

The best ones are the newly tuggers in their BMW 3 series and oversize van who spend 20 mins trying to get it on pitch, then Pull 5 bikes out of the inside of the van, spend 2 hours trying to get awning up before giving up and opening a can, should have opened the can first then spend time working out the awning. The bikes ? 2 left lying in the way whilst 3 kids clear on off on the others never to be seen until dark. Camp Entertainment at its best and I can guarantee that the van will be up for sale by the end of the ‘season’

As I posted in the other thread:

"If ever my life was so sad that I spent time watching others 'pitch up' I would head for Dignitas"

Each to their own

Let’s move on to the beach the next day. Husband buggered off with kids, woman on beach and sees a surging tide on flat beach come in 50/60 feet. She moves back 20 feet.
Next surge is small but up to the beach mat.
She moves pushchair, windbreak, crocks, surfboard first, only to watch the next surge soak the towels, bag, why do they move only a little bit and move the important items last?
Then hubby returns, he gets the full blast of anger as another wave soaks the mats etc.
Do I watch? Damn right I do. No one gets hurt and I get entertained👍
Yes I am sad. Get a life? Yes, I’m enjoying myself 😆
