Yesterday we were passing so on a whim called in and got the last MH pitch, £24. The place was heaving with families. Pools full of kids. Hundreds of kids on bikes. Must have been at least 500 families camped, at least half in tents.

But it was not that noisy and at night dead quiet. A great site. Plenty of food on site and it's own brewery.

We are regular users of the Tissington Trail and have stayed at Ashbourne Heights and Callow Top (neither are my cup of tea) our personal favourite is Rivendale which is probably half way along the trail (but only about a 100 yds from it) it has all the amenities you need including a nice little coffee shop (lovely cakes) and a very nice pub called the Prancing Pony (those of you aquainted with the Lord of the Rings will probably see a theme here). The bonus of this site is if you are there for a couple of days you can go one way on the first day and the other way the next day. There is also the Manifold Trail which is another dis-used railway a bit further into the Peaks which has Upper Hurst Farm Campsite (very near by), this is a relatively new site but again has all the amenities including a nice little pub down the hill.
