Used to go with the olds! Now I have one of my own :)
Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a while now, soaking up information from this and other forums and saving up my pennies for my first camper van.

Well, tonight, I got it!! I am now the proud owner of a "classic" camper: a c reg renault trafic autosleeper RCX with only 60,000 miles on the clock. For an almost 30 year old van it is in amazing condition and very clean inside. On the to do list so far is a little work on the leisure battery charging system and getting lap belts fitted to the rear seats. I still need to sort insurance and get it taxed, but it went through the mot with just 4 minor bits of welding and one bulb required so we should be off and out very soon!

So yeah, I've got myself a camper and now I've got myself a subscription to the forum I've spent most time on, motorhome fun!

Pictures to come soon :thumb:

Hello and welcome from Leicestershire, adventures start now.:thumb:

Just to say, check on having rear lap belts fitted, not a good idea, as there can be more damage to rear seat passengers than without any, there are lots of information about rear seats and belts on this site.

I have two rear settees and am insured for six including driver, wouldn`t carry more than two though, no seat belts, not for children obviously, different laws for them, as it is pre 2007 it isn`t against the law as no belts were ever fitted.

Wow, thank you all for such a warm welcome! No time for pictures yet... This evening was spent looking at the to do list which has grown, but nothing too major!

Thank you for the cautionary advice Margaret. The two settees along the side can be reconfigured in just a couple of minutes to make forward facing travel seats and that's what the lap belts would be fitted for (as long as my garage can find or make suitable mounting points).

Because it needed a little welding for the mot, I've decided to get it cleaned, rustproofed and under sealed down below too.

Oh and as of this morning, my daughter has informed me that we are now the proud owners of Charlotte the Camper.

Thanks again for the warm welcome,
Colin.

Welcome, I'm a newbie too & I discovered today that
my mh is a classic ::bigsmile:
I think "Charlotte" is a great name
My mh is "Toluny" my late partner was Tony, I'm Lucy
his family pet name was Ny.
So his initials either side of mine mean he continues to protect me :Smile:
Hope you all have many lovely trips :thumb:
