Tier 3 travel abroad

That’s great. Let us know how you get on.
I would check when France opens up that Spain opens up too though, as currently most regions borders are closed.

Spain is open there are curfews on no travel in the evening
Spain is not Open...there are still many restrictions in place....it's worth doing your homework before travelling....use official websites for accuracy....stay safe and ensure you don't get sick....

Have any of the regions lifted the ban on inter regional border movement ?
This is the issue I would have, especially as they have huge fines for non compliance.
We are in Murcia and are restricted to one of 45 Municipalities here....if we are caught outside ours without good reason....hospital etc we will get fined.....
Our neighbour wants to visit her 87 year old mother, she has been denied until recently, because she is in another area....special permission has just been granted....

Apparently they are only stopping Spanish plated vehicles and letting English ones through to there holiday destination but once your there you must not move
Well that's what should happen but is not...the are many in Motorhomes who are having a jolly, even making YouTube videos of there unchallenged travels...moving every day or so if there isn't a problem....they are going to come down to earth with a bump if they are found out....very silly people......will spoil it for others...
My fear for travellers is getting sick....being put on site lockdown....who cares for them...and if hospitalised....God forbid....

The operative word in that sentence is “should”. :gum:

If you are in a Tier 3 region in UK you are advised not to travel to or from tier 3 areas
Although I disagree with breaking rules ie crossing a closed border in a Spanish region you can travel internationally from a tier 3 area in the uk, as majority of country’s require a COVID test prior to travel.

I suspect they drew the rules up to allow flights and airports to still operate in tier 3 but never considered people driving the length of the country.

I read yesterday that covid tests are only required by travellers arriving in Spain by air, but NOT by road or ferry.

Because of course COVID only travels in aircraft and cannot be bothered with road transport :banghead:

Hi where did you read it please?
At the moment we may not travel freely between regions but after the 15th it is possible this will be lifted depending on infection rates and hospital situation but we do not know when we will be told this is possible .

Can you post a link please, our understanding was that it was a requirement for ferries as well as flights, if planning to travel south it may well be worth a call to Brittany Ferries.

Maybe this for chunnel travellers
and ferry
remember rules can change daily

This is an extract from the Brittany ferries link supplied above

Spain
The Spanish government’s requirements for arrivals into the country has changed. You must check the Spanish government’s website for full details but in summary you’ll need to:

  • Complete a COVID-19 PCR test 72 hours before arrival in Spain
  • Present valid documentation, at check-in, to confirm the test was negative for each person travelling (including children)
A PCR Covid test is required if arriving by ferry

The health situation in France remains severe. The French government has announced a national lockdown. You have to ask why considering new cases are 50% of the current UK rate, & still falling, as are deaths?
