Overnight at Cite Europe, then down the west coast toward Mortagne sur Gironde.
Then down to the fleshpots........Er , hotspots of Spain.
Well, we know where we’re going but not what we’re doing , first big trip (8 weeks) motorhoming.
We have done a weekend at a time before.
What could possibly go wrong , lol. !!!

Make sure you have some waterproofs for Mortagne, we are experiencing the wettest Jan for a very long time. Due to change this weekend 27th ... fingers crossed I already have webbed feet

Hi fidget, not too sure if we’ll have one or two stops on the way to Mortagne. Lizzy has had a good reconnoiter of Aires on the route, lots of them look good but I guess they may be a bit bleak this time of year.
We will stop at the Aire on the quayside at Mortagne, we love the place having hotelled there a few times in the past year.
We’re undecided whether to carry on to Bayonne and into Spain that way or cross the border towards Barcelona.

It's lovely and warm around Barcelona just now surprisingly. I can recommend sitges for a nice free stop..but it isn't an aire so make sure you've filled up etc beforehand. Beautiful beach and a lovely wee town.

Hi Fidget,
Just realised you are the couple who were ‘rear ended’. Glad you were ok and hope you’ve managed to replace your van.

Okay, first update.
Held up on the M25 for two hours by four pot holes. No, we really were, so we missed our train for the tunnel. The port of Dover was shut so a lot of freight traffic was diverting to the tunnel, fortunately we drove past it all and arrived in Calais only an hour later than we planned.
Well done Eurotunnel.
Quiet night spent at cite l’europe but............
Phone not working, mifi not working, tv sat not working correctly and van alarm not working correctly!
Lots of mist and low cloud on the drive down so no views to look at.
Second spent at Nogent Le Roi on free Aire next to the local sports ground, Lovely small town.
Managed to get the mifi up and running.
Like yesterday lots of fog, not enough to slow us but enough to stop us seeing anything other than tarmac , hedges , walls and ditches.
Third night spent at Vivonne near Poitiers, market place Aire in ok town with a river close by. Lots and lots of local flooding but only a few minor roads flooded, none being on our route.
Bright weather at last and a nice drive through vineyards to beautiful Mortagne sur Gironde. A few good walks around the port, village and marshes . We have seen wild boars close up here before but not this time, just a yacht being rescued from on the estuary !
Phone is now working , whoopee ... and free WiFi at the port.
Bayonne tomorrow I think, anyone have recommendations for overnighting in that area?
