Thunderbird updated last week now I get the XPCOM error code whenever I try to open it, this is truly frustrating as I cannot access my saved email folders. I have googled it and all say to uninstall Thunderbird and Re-install it. Done this 10 times now and still the same error code. Anyone been this route and solved the problem.
TIA

Thunderbirds are not go then?

It seems strange that after the seventh removal, you should still believe that the eighth would work. Such patience. + 1 merit.:clap2:

I've had the latest updates not had and problems.
Try uninstalling then delete all the registry entries to Thunderbird before reinstalling.

If you decide to remove registry settings after uninstalling Thunderbird, a very good utility is CCleaner. The free version can identify broken and spurious registry settings and is a reputable utility.

Or use Revo Uninstaller to do the unistall.

Care with Revo, it'll remove the programme and registry entries but I think it might remove archived stuff too - I know it's a strong utility. CCleaner for me.

Installed CC Cleaner (14 days free trial of the pro version) ran it and on completion shut down Windows Defender checked for Mozilla files in the registry then uninstalled Thunderbird the re-install still the same “Couldn’t load xpcom on trying to launch Thunderbird. Becoming very irritated.

Been using it for a few years, always use it on the most aggressive setting never had any problems.

Have you been running the 64bit version but updated with the 32bit version by any chance?

it will be a corrupted thunderbird profile. open it in safe mode by holding down the shift key as you click to open thunderbird

Just tried it And get the same error message, I have reinstalled Thunderbird so many times now I’m beginning to wonder if its a Windows 10 issue.

Could it be a user profile problem?
When you've uninstalled Thunderbird (prior to reinstalling it) does it remove your user profile in C:\Users\<your user account name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird? If not, try renaming Thunderbird to Thunderbirdold and then reinstall Thunderbird.
