Mrs D kept pushing me into the tank on the brakes, so thought grab rail but the Triumph ones are on the side of the bike (very expensive too), I prefer one at the back so I knocked up a little rack that doubles up as a grab rail, its not finished because I want to fit a Givi Tanklock to it for a small tankbag/tailbag, The question is I've polished it but not sure if it would look better dark grey or black powder coat crinkle finish as the frame?
If it was a classic Triumph I the polish finish would be fine!

Its good - but would be better with some racing holes in to make it at least look lighter and black to make it look Triumph.

It will be machined when the tanklock fitting arrives but I need to see the fixing's before machining, sod's law and all that(y)

Aug 09 to date 9,000 miles!
We have Givi racks on both our bikes. I like grab rails that are rounded and sturdy rather than flat, so I can hook me thumbs in em easily and pdq should I actually need to grab em!

Maybe you should get the Mrs a pair of love handles?? I have bought her a set off evil bay, only £7 its like a belt with a couple of gurt plastic handles, goes round me and she holds them on the bikes with no backrest or top box.
or ride and brake slower of course:eek:.
By the way, will look cracking when finished!

I reckon under load , that is going to be dead uncomfy, because its too flat to grip hard because its not rounded . IMO a grabrail can only work if its behind the rider, as the triangulation of the arse, shoulder ,and rail is what stops you moving .. the Triumph ones are , like you say , too far forward.

She is one of these that never hold on, we have toured Europe years ago with no rail (Guzzi LeMans) but that tank was much friendlier to my:whistle: so she only need's to grab it in traffic & she say's it fine to grip its double thickness there so 10mm, Ps I did have her feet under my armpits once (Oh Vicar) on a GPZ 900R out over a cress but the front wheel was pointing skywards;)

I used to tell Ann to press on the tank when braking and hold on to me tight when I opened it up. Those were the days Ninja 600. Got a 110cc scooter now. Not allowed any fun.

Did that once with the now wife on the back when I went over a small bridge on my RD 250 when I was 17, funny how it makes you slow down the next time....

Nice bike by the way had one out on test for a couple of hours when I was looking at chopping my Z1000 in, very nippy around the twisty bits.

Fit a good old fashioned car racing harness to that rear section.
