Are those little covers where the screws should be, little covers where the screws are?

Flicked mine out with a very sharp carbide scribe, made the smallest of marks which I turned to the bottom when I refitted.

The flat end of the double ended screwdriver your wife keeps in her handbag, or on her keyring, for tightening up the screws on the arms of her spectacles.

I use the point of a snap-off knife - freshly snapped so it is undamaged. If you're lucky you can press the point just into the side of the button where it shouldn't be visible then flick it out. I've never had to 'dig' down the side.

To avoid dropping things into turbines we used to use small suction cups to lift things out. Surprising how much lift you can get, always carry a couple in the toolbox.

All these people with different ways of doing it.in 30 years I've never had the urge to do that. Why are you all unscrewing your sockets? :D

Wow, just one or two suggestions

Thanks everyone, will let you know which method worked and which method caused the least amount of visible damage (y)

I plucked mine out with my fingernail before I responded with my previous post. Take your time with something non metallic and you won't damage them as you can see above. Before, during and after

Well... I got there in the end!

Tiny screwdriver wasn't having it, the covers seemed too far pressed in, nothing to get a purchase on unless I started gouging :(

Same with the finger nail method, the covers were just too flush on mine to pluck!

Blutac didn't seem strong enough to pull the little blighters out. But, it did give me an idea!

Duck tape (y)

The super sticky strong as an ox stuff (it's got some kind of cloth material in it which makes it tear easily one way but not the other).

Anyway, pressed a section of duck tape over and lifted it straight out (y)

Thanks everyone :)
