I have been thinking about blackout for our Malibu port holes for a while. They are covered by a single Remis Blind on each side.

When we are in bed the mattress is only an inch below the blind. With it rolled up everyone walking past can see in....

Then a visit to IKEA and I bought these ... Seat pads.

They are 36cms diameter the same as the port holes....

Tomorrow, we bodge them into place.

They use similar on boats and call them 'bungs' as they literally bung them in the aperture and they sit there without needing anything to secure them.

I saw those already. Going for the cheap and if it cocks up a bit not going to cost the earth. The other complication is one side has the window lock locks and struts.

Nah, but I did make a lovely unintended purchase last night. Such frivolous spending!

After arriving at Dover we were driving to our overnight stop just up the road at Whitfield when we passed a chippy. With a choice of warmed up pizza or fish & chips we splashed the cash and got a freshly cooked haddock and chips for £12.50 including a box of scraps!

It was very tasty and there's enough chips for a butty today.

Just ordered a remote battery isolator for the car...fed up of going to it after a couple of weeks without use to find the battery flat I suspect due to the Android head unit

Whilst thumbing through FB at 2am this morning, as you do, i came across an advert for a Thule G2 Bike rack that i had been looking for , to fit a box to. Happy days.
Realise that my haste to buy meant that i needed to get it today, as i am busy for the next 3 weeks, so a quick 3 hr round trip to pick it up was done, and i go to fit it , to find out the mounting pins on the rails are absolutely rusted solid. So i just spent money to create a job for myself. Deep Joy.

Following my aborted Camino walk last month, I had a serious
look at the footwear I possessed for a future walk and my needs
ongoing.

I have two pairs of 'Sketchers' leisure shoes and, to be blunt, they are
the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned so I started to look at
their range of Hiking/Trail shoes.

I visited their Plymouth branch but was put off by their prices.
The trail shoes instore were £109. Gulp.

So, what were the alternatives?

I found the below Company.

to specialise on 'obsolete' designs etc.

For instance, I bought a pair of genuine 'Sketchers' Trail shoes ie.
Mens Hillcrest Vast Adventure Trail Walking Shoes in Navy for less than £35.

There aren't many pairs left and they have run out of Male Size 11 but,
if you're up for shoes or clothing for the outdoors lifestyle, have a look.

Bought and fitted curtain rail around cab. Need to order blackout thermal curtains.

Also bought temperature sensors, Esp32 and some bits to make a monitoring system for battery. Will see how that goes.

Also bought cable to extend solar panel cables which are too short and as such just laid diagonally across the battery compartment which is also where we store levelling ramps and shoes.

This week I bought some diesel.

I then drove back down to Offgrid Power Solutions to have what possibly is my final upgrade, note I said possibly .

Roger and Nigel along with son Neil and young Sam, who is brilliant btw and definitely a keeper, fitted another 400w of solar on the roof giving me a total of 1030w on the roof and using the 200w portable panel a total of 1230w.

Then another Fogstar Drift battery was fitted so I now have 840a to play with, with all this Nigel then fitted the solar dump upgrade so the fridge runs on batteries until they drop down to 85% then it reverts to gas or ehu if I’m on it but I never are lol. I do like the solar dump, it’s great and a bit of a no brainer if wanting to take advantage of the sun’s power.

The 85% level is adjustable btw so after trying it out over the coming weeks/months I may adjust it to 75% so using more batteries and less gas.

The redundant gas elec shut off switch was replaced with another 240v outlet and then the diesel heater outlet was re-routed from the top of the dashboard (Rapido’s ridiculous idea) to lower down at floorish level, this makes a massive difference to how quick the Moho warms up rather than heating up the windscreen blind.

It’s fact if your feet are warm you feel warm, the Frenchies must like a warm head and cold feet .

Anyway before leaving I asked Nigel about what can be done next and he mentioned Starlink, I’m not sure I need it but not ruled it out
