I have been in friendly correspondence with Peter Vaughan the editor of What Motorhome magazine regarding this months issue, which is devoted 100% to campervans. Not pvcs, no Motorhomes of any kind just campervans.

I feel that this is a specialist market and as he also edits a specialist campervan magazine the Motorhome mag (there is a clue in the name) is not the place for such information, at least not to the total exclusion of any reference to Motorhomes but of course he disagrees. There is no problem with reviewing the odd campervan, but if you subscribe to a Motorhome magazine then Motorhomes are what you expect to see inside the covers surely? What does everyone think? Is the average Motorhomer interested in campervans or are they a different kettle of fish? I know it's good to look at different things now and again, and some may even be tempted by their size and practicality as a second vehicle but am I right to assume that the average Motorhomer has little interest in them, or am I in the minority? After all, as I said to Peter What Car magazine don't devote whole issues to reviews of tractors.

Interesting observation!

I do periodically enjoy reading 'What Motorhome' to keep up with the latest developments and new models. And on the whole think it is reasonably well written. Peter does a pretty good job.

But I can certainly see your point, especially if you are a subscriber. To have a whole edition of the publication devoted to one niche, that doesn't strictly fall within the category of 'motorhome', is surprising and potentially frustrating (if not annoying) depending on your viewpoint.

Liked your comparison of 'What Car' not devoting an edition to reviewing tractors! :):)

I enjoy seeing the whole range of leisure vehicles reviewed, but perhaps would not be impressed by the exclusion of all other categories one month. Peter has recently purchased his own van for the first time - and low-and-behold, it's a VW camper... ;)

Not too bothered, but you make a good point. If I was looking to change from a Moho to a Campervan, I'd probably expect to go out and buy a campervan magazine, and then I'd be miffed to find it full of motorhomes, or even worse, caravans!!

Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
What is considered the definition of a campervan, a motorhome and a pvc? What are the differences?

Over here in France the whole lot seem to come under the one word: campervan.

Strange they decided to do that. Campervans and day vans are well covered by their own specialist magazines. I read quite a few motorhome mags but not that one because it doesn't appear on Readly

What with my photo/rugby/motorhome/s and Siâns Good Food and numerous womens and house titles we could easily spend £35 a month on Magazines! Not anymore we read them all on Readly for just £7.99 a month for a whole family subscription gives all of us access to hundreds of mags a week and all the back issues of each so you are never stuck for something to read in your van. Superb Value . I've no connection with Readly I'm just a fan. (y)

Amateur photographer and the rugby paper are weekly publications that together cost more than the monthly sub for readly. So its a no-brainer for me. Also you can get mags from other countries. I don't know if motorcycle news is there, but there is a slew of Bike mags from around the world

Amateur Photographer was a must buy for me in the days when Louis Daguerre was the editor.

I'm sure 'er indoors will like it.

So it went "Any of your magazines in there"
"Yes, there's xxxxx yyyyyy but I like to fold them"

OK, I admit that compared to MCN in broadsheet paper a tablet is hard work to read, I had MCN on electronic subscription for a year because of MH, much prefer paper, but I'll have another go.

The clincher is loads of mags that I'd like a quick look at but won't pay the silly prices they ask for them.

Even better, it works on the PC. Might not be as convenient as tablet but the screen is bigger.

Actually, in France they all come under the title of "Camping cars" In the US its RVs.
My own definition rightly or wrongly would be. PVC panel van conversion, see our avatar. Motorhomes the box type A class or coachbuilts, and the smaller VW type is a campervan.

Eh? I have a PVC and I regard it as a Campervan ................. I don't see it as a Motorhome. Or ........... does Campervan mean something you can not stand in, wash in, or go to the loo in?

I have a PVC but sometimes I call it a campervan and sometimes I call it a motorhome, I also sometimes call it a camping car if I'm feeling a bit continental. On non of these occasions has the world ended so I will continue to use my 'worry allowance' for important things like my children and cake.

The bikers equivelent of the Sunday Sport.. MCN never let the truth ( or anything like it ) get in the way of a good story.

Re the OP.
I have bought the mag a few times but to be honest, I get all the info I need from Motorhome Fun
Knocks spots off any mag you can buy.. But if I had bought it I would be asking for a refund.... absolutely zero interest in camper vans !

I think that your post is grossly unfair and should be deleted imediately

I wouldn't be surprised if the Sunday Sport didn't sue you, no way can it be as bad as MCN :)
