Stealth vans are definately a great idea for inconspicuous camping.
Might be the route I go down next year....only not a transit:p

a lesson on how not to built a camper van.. ??

no vapour barrier on back of the wood lining, so liable to get wet rot from behind.

no opening windows or roof lights, and only a small roof fan for ventilation

gas bottle should be in a locker sealed from the living area and accessible from outside only, and certainly not near a heat or ignition source.. ie under the gas hob.

Did the Gaslow bottle have external filler.. ? I didn't see one so will it will have to be removed for refilling.

no hot water or shower, but perhaps that's not required.

no fridge.

no grey waste tank.

is the toilet also a stealth mode model.. ?

but it did have plenty of LED lights.

To be fair to him, its only some accommodation for when he goes climbing and I thought a good effort from a novice builder.

What are the regs re gas bottles. If they are not allowed inside then every SuperSer I've used over the years was illegal. He had a gas filler point just inside the door I think, right next to the hob :D

Agree with a lot of your points but it is not a campervan , more what is called a day van, it's really only for sleeping in where it just looks like any old van, don't suppose he's worried about rot, it will either be scrap or sold on before it matters, the cab windows open and also side and back doors for daytime ventilation, he did have a fixed gas filler on the end of the sink against the side door, no need for fridge if only going for a day or two, grey waste under nearest hedge, no toilet so no black waste.

To answer that question... ME.

I know what is good about stealth vans... no one bothers you because they don't know you are inside. I didn't "camp" in mine... I lived in it.

Mr Ian The Builder doesn't need a stealth van because he uses campsites (I believe).

Many young people working in London are building Stealth Campers to live in as they can't afford to pay the rents or get a mortgage.

Great video, the chap didn't seem short on resources, and he did say he had the van to london.

1 year on and loving it!
I'm building a camper van (with my son's help) so thanks for that info Scotland Jim. The gas bottle will be inside but I've got a drop out vent for the locker, from an old caravan that will be fitted.
