Rather a complicated way to provide a UPS for your laptop! :)

I must admit I'm getting a bit worried about these crappy cheap Chinese invertors and safety, though.

impressed

1000W continuous, after the guy modifies it a wee bit. The video goes on a bit , 3 parts, but if weather is shit you could watch it instead of pacing back and forward looking outside for the sun to come out ? :)

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but at 100% efficiency, a 5KW invertor will drawn almost 22A at 230V. Ohms law applies, thus the 12V input side would be drawing over 400A at full load.

The batteries pictured (combined) are about 15A/H At full load, 400 A drawn out of them would result in their collapse at roughly 2 minutes, and that's being very generous. The wiring would burn out before the batteries, just.

A 100 A/H leisure battery would provide 50 A/H usability. That means you would get less than 8 minutes of practical use.

The heat produced by an invertor in the process of providing 230V is caused by inefficiency within the device. If you assumed 10% inefficiency (being generous), you would presumably see at least 500 watt heat being generated.

So, you get a misleadingly advertised, Chinese made firebomb, requiring wiring the size of your index finger attaching this to a bank of leisure batteries
