You'd think the easiest thing to do would be to just weld another back half on from the same model of van, but I couldn't work out why the body line was so bad. Was it from a different van??? It's because it's a set of back doors welded into the side! I guess it's to delete the wheel arch?

At some point they must have realised that it would have been easier to just stretch the middle... or get a bigger van.
 
Good old American "Barn Door" Engineering. Probably got a 4x2 RSJ chassis on the original van which they've just welded and extention on. The massive engine on the front will probably counter an overhang effects.

Bet it has an equally impressive MPG
