What a start to this leg, we stopped for fuel inside Spain at Ayamonte as it's quite a bit cheaper than Portugal and headed for the stop at Antequera where we had a real big problem. After filling and emptying we went to move off only to find that my alarm/immobiliser wouldn't disable, tried the other one thinking maybe it was my battery, unfortunately not. I then seemed to remember a comment on Campercontact which said about a radio blocker signal from across the road in the court building, sure enough I had got caught out.
Went and spoke to them and was told it was the police station behind the court,so went and spoke to them who told me no it was the court. After a lot of toing and froing the cop said he would come along in 4 minutes, they turned up a good bit later and started going through various scenarios which didn't work. They then suggested pushing it out of the empty station and shoving it down the road out of the blocking zone, well what a laugh trying to push a 5t van slightly uphill and turning it without the power steering. At first it was really difficult and I heard the brakes squeaking, went to check to find that No1 cop had pulled the handbrake on a bit. A few car drivers and some guys from the pub across the road came and helped and after getting 100 yds down the road we were out of the zone and the immobiliser reset. So a 10 minute stop ended up about an hour and a half and buckets of sweat. So the moral of this tale is don't switch your engines off at Antequera OR JUST BLOODY AVOID THE PLACE.
