Hi all.

Q1. I fancy a secondhand Fiat Ducato 644 - my budget is around the 30K?

Q2. We need a minimum of 5 belts but the 4 berth seems to only have 4 belts. Can additional belts be fitted?

Q.3. I’m a bit mistified with some of the abreviations used by some of you

Any help greatfuly accepted.

Q1 Cannot understand the question, what make/model of motorhome are you thinking of? Fiat Ducato is just the base vehicle

Q2 You can't practically add further seat belts. There have been several threads on this.

Q3 can you be a bit more specific with what you don't understand.

Have you tried looking at a Bessacar 495, they have up to 6 travelling seats. Can get a reasonable one for your 30k budget.

Hi and welcome.
Lots of advice here
No knowledge of the Swift Escape 644 but others should be along who do.
If you say what you don't understand we should be able to help (y)

Sounds like you are looking at a Hymer?
Almost impossible to retro fit seat belts.
What abreviations do you want to know?
I'm an FLT and proud of it.:)

It was a Swift with the French bed I was looking at. The plan is that it would mainly be used my the two of us, but also by my three daughters and their family one of which has three children aged 15, 6 & 18 months.

Have your daughters got C1 licences as you will struggle to find a van to suit your needs under 3500kg. With 2 adults and 3 children on board you need to be looking at vans with a minimum payload of 1000kg preferably a lot more, which probably means 4500kg vans and above.

We have a Swift Escape 664. You seem to be running out of messages so why not cross Jim’s palm with £15 and all will be revealed (y)
Best investment you’ll make with all the knowledge available on this site :)

Definately food for thought. Thanks.

I assume I would be better off going to a dealer rather than private for my first MH.? As I’m from Gwynedd any suggestions re recommendations?

The Dealers are the worst. All they are interested in is your money. Most of them don’t give a toss what happens after it leaves their premises. Don’t believe anything they say even if it’s in writing.

Buy a motorhome that just the two of you can use. You will not be at home much so won’t be lending it out to the family. It will also save any arguments about who is using it.

A bit of a curved ball here - I would suggest you buy a van that suits the 2 of you as mentioned previously. The family could always turn up in a car and use you van somewhere with one of the adults having driven it to an agreed location. I’m assuming that with 3 children a site would be the preferred option. You could use an awning to sleep any excess family members! Just a thought.

Oh and we!come!

I’m glad I joined. Our van of choice at the moment is the Swift 644. Re where to buy any views on Auto Trader?

They are not the best put together MHs. You need to check all the paperwork and make sure it doesn’t leak. It can be very costly trying to stop water coming in. You also need to check floors etc. Seller will not always tell you the truth so Buyer Beware.
