On and off for many years.
After our truncated trip this year we are thinking about going back to Alsace next year and doing some of the Rhine Cycle Route using the motorhome as a base and the train as a way of getting between the parts of the cycle route we are interested in.

One of the places we will probably stay for a few days will be Colmar as we are already familiar with the campsite and there is an SNCF station there. I've got a copy of the Cicerone guide to the cycle route so just waiting for the Michelin map of the area so we can plan a bit more. We really missed having the bikes with us this year as they are so handy to go short(ish) distances to see places you would miss otherwise.

Anyone done similar? Any tips or advice?

You should enjoy that trip, make sure you allow a day for Eguishem near Colmar and its just as nice the other side of the river in Germany.

Also in that area......but not on your bikes :)

That was one of the many places on our "to visit" list that didn't happen :(

I also have the Moselle Cycle Route which looks as good if not easier for us as there are frequent SNCF stations along the line that parallels the cycle route most of the way.
