One of the large cemeteries such as Tyne Cot, but also the small ones are interesting. The absolute must is the Flanders in the fields museum inside the cloth hall.

I have seen the Menin Gate ceremony probably four or five times, it varies depending on the weather/time of year. I saw it mid December one year in the bitterly cold, there was still 50 or so hardy types. If it's school holidays or a weekend get there early to grab a decent spot.

There's a bar on the corner of the crossroads in front of the Menin gate. That's a good place to wait for the ceremony if it's chilly outside (y)

The museum in the cloth hall on the main square has got to be worth a visit - fantastic place. Also a few chocolatiers around and just off the main square.

A foody shop on the corner near the cloth hall yummy waffles and ice cream . If you have cycles and weather ok excellent cycle paths all around the lake and for miles out to different cemeteries .

There's a guy who has a small tourist info shop just off the main square (the road down from Menin Gate if I remember correctly) who organises local tours of the battlefields. Used him once on a coach trip to the area and he was excellent, but he does his own too.

As for places to see there is a small German cemetery on the outskirts. It is worth visiting, just to see the differences (sorry, been a few years and can't quite remember where).
