Over the years I have gone into either a caravan our motorhome to find a mysterious item lying on the carpet in the middle of nowhere. A number of times it has been screws of various lengths and after searching h9gh and low, inside cupboards, under beds, in bathrooms the vacant hole cannot be found.

The other day I found the light grey plastic fastener thingy. The carpets are light brown, the wood is brown, door trims cream as are the walls. The dashboard is Fiat Dicato black. So where on earth did it come from?

I am coming to the conclusion that the blokes and blokeses that make the motorhomes have a pocket of miscellaneous bits and bobs in their pockets that they leave inside somewhere to cause a mystery.

An old urban myth says that when Spitfire fighters went on the first test flight the pilot would roll the aircraft upsidedown and pick the loose nuts and bolts out of the canopy. Perhaps we need a special jig that can do the same with our vans.

Have you looked up? It looks like something for holding a thin panel in place. For example, if you have roof mounted A/C, are there any panels or cowls which look as if there is now a hole where there should be a "bung".

Yes had a good look round. No a/c and nothing of a grey colour at all.

is it a clip for holding the cab mat / carpet (or should i say was it, as it looks a bit battered.) Did the installer damage it so dropped it on the floor and used another one. With the intention of picking it up later obviously

Looks like a foot of of something. Is it rubber, or plastic.

I go along with that; do you have a microwave or something similar that is missing a foot, or it could even be a thing to stop a door hitting the wall or something?

Long time
We have a collection of various sized plastic bungs and stick on ‘feet’ that have appeared over the years, I do know where some have come from-feet from something we don’t have/use anymore but they are all kept….’just in case’!

Talking of things appearing this one has always been there but I'd never seen it. Yesterday I discovered an extra stalk on the left hand side of the steering column on a car I've owned for two years. It sits between the lights/washer stalk and the cruise control. I daren't try it while I was on the road yesterday and the handbook never gave any clues last night. Checking it this morning I discover it's the steering column adjustment.

I mentioned to my son last week that during the recent damp weather the recordings on my wildlife camera that I've been using for 6 months were becoming misty and out of focus.
They were fine after he removed the piece of transparent plastic film over the lens.

I tend to leave those covers on a variety of glass objects in case I decide to send them back to Amazon, they're usually still there months later.

Might be worth checking bottom of any recently used appliances for a missing thingummybob, we kept finding little bits like that, turned out to be from the bottom of the kettle base

Having a team of sales people, I often find that missing things I am looking for suddenly appear almost like they have had transported in. It could be book packs, keys, motorhomes...........
No one ever loses them, its always the ghost!

We seem to have the opposite problem. Having down sized from a motorhome to a pvc there should be less places to loose things.
Oh no :frowny: It seems to swallow everything even those things that you find then put in a safe place just in case .......
It is particularly partial to charging leads and shoes despite having identified storage places for them and both of us swearing we put things away properly.
