2am....:cry:At Praia da Rocha but had a burglar trying to get into the camper front doors luckily we had all our doors locked and cab door internal locks on so they did not get in. (knackered door lock) did five vans but one French woman had left her handbag on front seat smashed quarter light and got 1200€ they had been to bank that day. They came back on Sunday night but we chased them off with baseball bats etc.

Every motorhomer should have a safe fitted in a hidden place. We have one fitted in a cunning location.

Where were you parked at Praia da Rocha? In January we stayed for one night on the '2 carparks' at the western end of Praia da Rocha (if you were stood on the beach it would be the lefthand side). At that time it seemed quite safe.

Very true, the 'feel good' factor kicks in when we land on foreign soil, all is right with the World and the sun is shining, but the crooks never take a holiday ..

well, maybe they do at others expense

We have too. They are relatively cheap, and usually big enough to fit a camera and/or sat nav system into as well. I read a tip to leave an old bag (handbag that is, not the MIL) and fill it with odds and ends that you would expect to find in a handbag, including a purse and a small amount of cash. I may have read it on this forum, so apologies if you have all heard this already!! Thieves expect to find a bag, so let them find the 'dummy' one.

Likewise, I always leave a jewellery box filled with charity shop purchases in my bedroom at home. Hopefully, burglars will see the box and make off with it - they're welcome!! The real stuff is well hidden
