Our Thetford toilet has a built in fan which comes on automatically when the flush button is pressed. Normally you can switch the fan off with a white button next to the flush button, but it’s stopped working. The only way to stop it is by switching off the main power to the whole van and then back on again. It’s under warranty but we’re away at the moment and wondered if it was a simple fix. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a simple fix (y)

Failing that don’t flush, just open flap and let gravity take over :)

Is it an after market fitting? Or SOG?

Yep, unless it’s dark and all the lights go off too!
:D

I normally do, depends of course if there is anything left behind to flush...:)

since 2007, 25 years tuggin before that.
Should also go off on its own on a timer if you don't press the other button. I bypassed the circuit board on ours & took a feed from the micro switch on the flap so the fan starts as the flap opens & stops as it closes. It was a pain if we forgot to press the button before being seated.

It’s thetfords own, filter and fan built in.

Micro switch in the cassette cupboard may have moved a little ...

And not touching the cam properly...

Couple I have had the switch is only held on/in by some sort of double sided tape..

If you can get the control panel off the loo unplug the fan from the PCB

Our fan is under a Thetford filter, under the cassette. You could snip one of the connecting wires.

Had a problem with ours when the dam thing kept flushing, I discovered that due to poor siting of the button right underneath the wash basin water was getting in behind the panel and there was a little green corrosion around some of the soldering on the circuit board so got a soft tooth brush and cleaned it off not had trouble since and as temporary fix stuck a strip of gaffa tape accross the top to stop water ingress,(y)(y)(y)

Our microswitch occasionally slips of the bracket. I remove the cassette and push the spring clip back up.

That's only on a SOG. The Thetford is a timer triggered by the flush switch

You can disconnect the fan by pulling the white connect with a red & black wires off the PCB.

Is that the PCB where the switch is located, or the one behind a cover at the back of the cassette locker?

It's behind the panel, I disconnect mine as I have a SOG and the fan was running but not doing anything.

PCB is behind this panel. I can reach mine from inside the cupboard.

Thanks everyone, mine is the same as Lenny’s , so I’ll try to get behind the panel and disconnect the wire for now, until we can get it sorted under warranty.
