Can anyone tell me why the knob on my Thetford oven will not turn off. We put the oven on and lit it but came to turn it off after use but it will only turn down to the minimum setting, no amount of pushing it in before turning makes any difference, it just won’t turn off.

If it is a combined oven and grill then OFF for both is centre top.

Our domestic and van ovens and gas hobs both have off after maximum, not minimum.

As I said it won’t go past the minimum setting, I know the off position is at the top for both the oven And the grill, it’s nothing new to us we’ve been using it for three years, we know how it works, as anybody had the same problem. I’ve removed the oven to look at the backside of the switch but it looks like the whole knob assembly might need replacing. Thanks for your comments.

Did you have to push it in to get it to turn on? Has it not popped back out again? Maybe full of cr4p....

Can you swap with a hob knob to see if the oven knob spring is broken

OK - but the comments were prompted by the fact that it's not supposed to go past the minimum setting, it goes back up to max then off. Hope you get it sorted.

No it’s the opposite on this model minimum is at 11 o’clock position 140c then turn it anti-clockwise to get to the bottom which is 220c, it doesn’t go past the maximum, it only goes past the minimum setting to the off position which in this case is the problem. Got a Thetford engineer booked for next week.

Being an ex gas and plumbing fitter I’d guess without being able to look at it the valve is kaput
