My 2018 Rapido has a fridge freezer as above. I've always used a bungee to keep it from flying open going around roundabouts BUT have just discovered it should have a safety catch at the bottom. It's got the slotted metal piece on the chassis but just a hole in the base of the fridge door.

Would appreciate a photo of what the catch looks like. Maybe I could make something or try and get one from Thetford.

Thanks.

Are you sure? There should be a latch on the top of the fridge door and one on the bottom of the freezer door, that's all, you're not confusing it with the bracket which you put the hinge into if you change the door opening are you?

Thanks for your response Minxy Girl. You're as surprised as I was but yes there should be a safety catch at the bottom. See photo attached.

Thanks but I can't see how that would fit. A photo from a funster with my model of fridge would be very useful.

When I was trying to find out info the Thetford site did say that it was only on 3000 series models where fitted so maybe not all of them had it.

Nothing at the bottom of my fridge door Mel, just the flat catch in the pic
It’s a Sprung catch
Looks like you've got a model 'without' the bottom one then ...

Westy66 - if that's at the bottom of your fridge I think it's because you have a 'hinged on left' door. That mechanism which is at the top left hand side on mine is quite useless when going round roundabouts!

Minxy Girl - this is the bottom of the chassis - it looks like something hooks into it to 'lock' the door closed, which is as per the Rapido manual extract I posted.

This is from an N80 model but appears to be the same sort of arrangement you're after - you have no 23 already so appear to need the other bits:

Thanks Minxy Girl - that looks promising. I think I'll give Thetford a call.

Are you sure that the latch is just to keep the door slightly open when in storage? See OPs 3rd posting.

If I may can I piggy back the thread? I have similar fridge freezer and the latch no longer latches unless I push a bit of rubber under the latch. Many thanks Minxy Girl for the exploded diagram - the piece I'm referring to is number 2. I recall some past post mentioned a spring or something that can be replaced without buying a full latch assembly (or is it the whole door? )o_O

Minxy Girl - it's item 21 on your N3150 exploded diagram that I need.

Teamband S - it's definitely a travel safety catch (refer to my extract manual).

Thanks all for your input.

Ours is like this, the black plastic clip (22) has a slot cut out of it that slides onto the metal hook (23). Number 22 can then be turned and locked onto/over a pin on the bottom of the door for travelling.

Thanks Westy66. Clearly from my manual mine should have. It needs it as prior to using bungees, the door would open frequently when turning right or going round a roundabout.

I've emailed Thetford and await their reply.
