HI All, Im experiencing some weird issues with my Thetford N150 Fridge. I have just replaced both 240v and 12v heating elements after it stopped working when on mains.. At the time it worked fine on gas and 12v..
After replacing elements fridge/freezer initially fired up great and started to form ice. Checked it last night and it was working perfectly. Come out to check this morning and started to melt!!!
Reading the manual it says put covers on if outside is below 8 degrees. Now im second guessing myself and wondering if its just because of the cold weather, its been around 6degrees all day today. Could this be stopping it from working? Anyone experienced similar?
Cheers
John

If no heating on in van overnight and temp got to say 4deg C then fridge could think I,m cold so turn off. I assume fridge stat is in fridge and freezer cools if fridge calls for cooling. Van is cold, fridge is cold so not cooling, freezer melts. Could be all ok then....

We had fridge problems over xmas & new year, in that it worked Fine when we left, but as stock was replenished it struggled to get below 10 degrees in the fridge, however the freezer still froze things.
I posted the problem on here just after we came home, asking for opinions on probable cause.
I was running the FF on mains hook up, even tried on gas overnight once to see if it cooled down any better, but no joy.
Others have suggested that I had too much stuff in the fridge, not allowing the cool air to circulate, which could be true, we will see next time we are out in the van.
I also left the winter vent covers on the van during our 10 day excursion, I will see next time if it works any better in winter daytime temps of 6/9 degrees with the vent covers removed.
Shame really,as we had to ditch a lot of fresh meats whilst away as we didn't trust that it had been stored at the correct temp.
I will try taking off the external covers next time we go away, even if temp is low, and will fit an internal temp controlled fan inside the fridge to circulate the cold stored air in the spring/summer as many on here have done.
This modification was to help the fridge stay cool for extremely hot summer days above 27 degrees whilst travelling in warmer climes.
PS: if we go away again over xmas, we will take a 12 volt compressor powered cool box to help take some larger items, and place that in the garage as every little helps.
Good luck

I left the fridge vents on a couple of years back because of the 8° thing and the fridge didn’t work took em off and all was well again. On EHU at the time.
I would consider leaving the bottom one on but take off the top one, and try that.
