Thetford loo blade replacement problem

I would like to replace the blade as above and have looked at the videos online etc. However, I simply cannot get the cover to move! It won’t rotate at all and I don’t want to push too hard on the cover in case I break it. Any ideas please?

You have to open the slider and put a piece of wood in it to use it as a lever
