Our van is 2013 with a Thetford fridge, the 12 volt element has 2 thicker wires
White with an orange tracer is negative
Red with yellow tracer is positive (D+)
In your case test between the thick Red and Brown wires
Disconnect the white plug and use a multimeter to check for continuity between the two wires, no circuit means the element has failed

Replacing the element is not a very difficult job, and certainly worth doing if the fridge works OK on gas and mains.
