Sorry, too thick to own a motor home here!

Can anyone tell me what this switch does on the door of the fridge and if it should be off or on?

I have one similar on my dometic. It stops the freezer door from freezing up after being used a long time.Personally I have never needed it.But.I did try it and forgot to turn it off. That resulted in a flat habitation battery.Never used it since.

Many thanks, clearly one NOT to be left on until I cant open the door. What a curious thing having a heater on a fridge, I would never have worked that out!

I would guess that you have a cooling fan behind the fridge (or maybe two?) That is probably for that. It is definitely an aftermarket switch. If you leave it on and it is powered from the battery directly, and not from the fridge 12 volt supply, it will run the battery down. The way to check is to take the top outside vent off (Two black sliders at the top gap) and you should see it or them. It is possible they are fitted at the bottom, if they are MOVE THEM! You need to provide negative pressure in the space behind the fridge and bottom mounted will give you positive pressure. The gasses and fumes could be forced into the habitation area.

I had the same question as I didn't understand what it means from the concise manual explanation:

D = Divider heater switch (only on double door fridges)

All domestic fridge freezers have door heaters, that’s why they are the most power hungry appliance you probably have.
Don’t leave it on in your van as it uses 12v and could kill your battery
