VXman , I did solve our problem, and it was as mitzimad says above.
I took the jet out and blew it through with an airline, then cleaned it with a bit of wire. Apparently there only needs to be a slight drop in pressure to the flame, and it will cause the fridge not to function properly.
Our van was fairly nes like yours, and I think there must have been a tiny piece of debris in the pipe somewhere.

No, I looked at the flame and it was full on. Happy to give it a try though. Is it easy enough to remove?
