I used the oven to warm some croissants this morning and afterwards the oven knob would not turn to the off position anymore. It stops solid at the 140 degrees, lowest temp setting and goes no further!

It's not a problem with the plastic knob but the actual brass pin that is turned by the knob. We turned the gas off by turning it off in the cupboard but will have to do this each time we want to use it and we can't use the grill setting as it won't turn round to that which on on past the off position. Please help as i can't function without my morning toast!

I've also sprayed some wd40 into the hole the brass pin goes into.

have you tried pressing in as you turn? If you have, pull off the plastic knob and try pliers "gently"

Yes sounds like the cone inside the switch has either jammed or broken.
it could be a number of internal parts that have loosened or dropped and wedged the valve.

first Ty to turn it fully up then back to off …If that does not work then
you will have to remove the switch valve as a complete unit and if I can’t be repaired then replaced if you can get one.

if not theirs only one option after that.

Tried that.

If it is the same as some other gas valves on ovens, there will be a brass pin through the control rod. This may have slipped blocking the valve from turning properly

Yes tried all manner of fiddling and i had my suspicions that it would be an internal mechanism failure. I can't see how you would access this apart from taking the whole oven to bits 😭

Who would be the best type of business to have a look at this do you think? Motorhome repair place or appliance repair shop?

Actually scrap that I've looked on thetford site and they offer a 3 year warranty so I will be going straight to them with the issue.
