When I press the pressure release button when empty the cassette it does not seem to do anything which makes emptying difficult any ideas anyone

I don't have a cassette any more but think there is a spring inside

I am sure you can buy spare parts from many sources and would think it would be quite simple to change

is it like this?

or try taking yours apart and clean / spray with WD40 that might do it

Looks a bit like it will see if can take it apart
The button does go down just does not release the vacuum to allow the flow to empty

The vent may be blocked as that button simply lets air into the cassette. Take it out. Clean it and it should be ok. All parts are obtainable.
