Hi all has anybody got one these Thetford 2000 range fridge freezer fitted there 12 volt only
looking to find a way to run off mains when on plug in work well in the sunshine but a bit power hungry.

It will run on 12v and the battery is being charged while on EHU so it's effectively running from the mains as any energy taken from the battery is being replaced.

The Ec500 should charge at 25 amps 😳
It may be faulty, have you measured it's output? Also have you measured the fridges consumption? Is it a compressor fridge?

Have not checked EC500 yes it is a compressor fridge works well if I can give it plenty off power
maybe go with some bigger AGM batteries and a after market charger

Should easily keep the batteries topped up with the fridge and everthing else you are running.
Don't know much about the Sargent units but don't they have a setting where they switch between charging the leisure battery & starter battery in 4 hour blocks if so that could be your problem and you need to give priority to the leisure batteries.

I wouldn't have thought the fridge would take more than 3 or 4 amps.

The EC500 PSU is normally connected to a PX300 charger/power supply unit and it may be that that is faulty , as Richard n Ann has said you need to check the output is as it should be. (there is information about the Sargent PX300 in the Resources section , Motorhome technical articles.)

We have a new Thetford T2160 fridge freezer that worked very well on our 2 x 120 ah batteries supplied by a 175w solar panel during the past summer in the UK, however currently in Spain the winter sun and solar is failing to maintain the battery levels and we need to run the 16amp CBE mains charger on hookup to help. Our F/F uses about 30ah a day at mid range and using the night setting.
